The market for single use apps has almost been exhausted with millions of apps for millions of different purposes now being available and so as far as the developers are concerned, their futures only remained in updating or improving existing apps. That was the case until the emergence of cross-platform developments.
Cross-platform development can allow one app to serve more than just one purpose and so one modernized app may now replace two or even more, older apps. It is estimated that on an average a person may use as many as 30 apps in any given month, and as many as 9 different apps per day which, whilst apps are convenient, switching between them repeatedly may not be. By an app being able to use cross-platform technology, there has now become a whole new market for new apps, ones which will allow their users not to have to keep switching between different apps as often.
Of course, it is unlikely that yet there will be apps created which can provide all the user’s needs for a month but soon there may be one which allows many users to stick to just one app per day. A developer though will have to decide which apps they want to amalgamate in order to be the most practical in turn meaning it to become the, more popular.
These multi-purpose apps are expected to appear faster than the regular apps did over the past decade as now that the technology has been introduced, the actual developing of these multi-functional apps is actually easier than their previous single use originals.
In this modern age of technology, almost anything has become possible through the use of an app and a mobile device and this has generated a generation who expect the ultimate convenience in doing anything. As the multi-functional apps provide even more convenience than the now traditional apps, there is little doubt in the developer’s minds that the new generation of apps will be just as popular if not more popular than their predecessors. Of course, though, the number of actual apps needed will be reduced and so competition between the developers of these new age apps will still be intense.
There are already several tools which developers can use to create these newer types of apps and they include:
React-Native – This is a cross-platform tool which was developed by and is maintained by Facebook.
Xamarin – This is currently possibly the most popular cross-platform tool as it more easily allows its user to avoid errors or ‘bugs’.
Flutter – This is developed and maintained by Google and as such uses Dart as its programming tool as it too was developed and is maintained by Google also.
Mobile apps have been around for a decade or so now and whilst they may have become commonplace, the new cross-platform technology will ensure that people continue to buy new apps for the foreseeable future and be able to use them with even more convenience than before.Originally published Apr 23,2019 09:35:00 PM, updated Jun 25,2019 11:13:30 AM
